Indigo is an Indian restaurant on Stamford, near enough to the South Bank to walk there in about five minutes but far enough away that it’s not quite as busy as some other places. The restaurant is actually upstairs and has modern, hotel style decor, I think because downstairs is a conference/meetings suite.

When we visited in the evening – at around 7pm – and ours was one of three tables occupied. One of the others had a man dining alone, telling the waiter he was eating before going to the filming of an Opera Stars TV programme.

In terms of food between two of us we had onion bhajees, vegetable jelfrazi, sag aloo, lentil daal, rice and naan. All of these were fine – nothing spectacular, but hit the spot. This plus one glass of juice cost £25 inc service. I think this is possibly the only Indian restaurant I’ve been to where mango lassi is not on the menu.

This is a standard Indian restaurant, nothing flash and lacks a bit of ambiance, but will hit the spot and is a good place to go if you want to beat the crush.
